RollerLash
Early in 2012 we started our first of what would become a dynasty of mascara designs for Benefit. As the friskiest luxury brand in the world, they gave a nod to nostalgia and incorporated a feminine optimism that came to define their style.
Inspired by the attributes of the formula, the design is a nod to the iconic hot roller and beauty shop charm. Along the way we developed a breakthrough cap with a soft overmold lattice that provides a distinctive design and feels great in the hand.
Roller Lash was the best-selling prestige mascara in the US for three consecutive years upon release, massively outperforming Benefit’s sales expectations and establishing a worldwide cult following.
BADgal BANG!
BADgal BANG! came next, in 2015. Following the cult favorite BADGal mascara was a lot to live up to. The design shows off the bold and powerful volumizing formula inside, created by Benefit to be dramatic and intense.
The launch exceeded the 100 million dollar sales target and pushed Benefit to be one of the top two prestige mascara brands in the world. In fact, one Benefit BADgal mascara is sold every 9 seconds.
Winner of the Allure Best of Beauty Award in 2018.
They’re Real Magnet
Then in 2016, Benefit’s R&D team created a breakthrough for lengthening lashes. A magnetic formula attracted to a small magnet in the wand. The result was a formula and applicator that created unbelievably long lashes.
Our design is a not so subtle nod to the revolutionary technology.
Winner of the Allure Best of Beauty Award in 2021.
FAN FEST
There’s a fourth-dimension interaction with objects that come alive as you move them. We’ve explored plenty of optical-illusion designs over the years, but Fan Fest actually brings one into the real world. Spin it between your fingertips and it springs to life. It also serves as a visual homage to Benefit's incredible formula and brush, which work together to fan out your lashes.
The illusion is called the ‘barber pole’ illusion and it tricks your brain into thinking the helix surfaces are moving away from the center.
BADgal BOUNCE
Our fifth and latest mascara design for Benefit expresses the Bounce formula’s lightweight and fluffy qualities. Inspired by inflated balloons, our design features a soft, touchable silhouette.
BROW LINE
Benefit’s Brow Line led the charge on an industry wide focus on brows, resulting in a 50% market share of the category. We led the industrial design of the entire launch family, 13 products released simultaneously.
The project was a major factor in driving Benefit’s dominance in the category. In fact, the top five most popular brow products of all time belong to the Benefit Brow Line.
